Ingress by Niantic

So I have been playing Ingress by Niantic, from the makers of Pokemon Go!
Well for some bizarre yet strangely odd reason, I received the following email:

Agent,

Your account has been terminated for violations of the Ingress Terms of Service, including the section on Conduct, General Prohibitions, and Niantic’s Enforcement Rights. This includes, but is not limited to, falsifying your location, using emulators, modified or unofficial software and/or accessing Ingress clients or backends in an unauthorized manner including through the use of third party software.

This message is being sent from an unmonitored email inbox. Please do not reply to this email.

I have done nothing wrong & I have not done anything to warrant this termination. I would like an explanation, as I was rather enjoying this app and getting to know people. But if this is how you treat new comers then by all means. You can have your app.
As far as I’m concerned Niantic have lost not only a player today, but by word of mouth they will lose more as, not having the decency to query any allegations and just to blanket terminate! is in my opinion BAD BUSINESS!
The only software I have used is the Official Ingress client from the Google Play Store. My Conduct has been above reproach, I have not abused or defamed anyone, nor have I done anything against your General Prohibitions. I have not falsified my location, I have on occasion travelled between Morwell Australia & Melbourne Australia. Whilst travelling I have also been playing Ingress. This would account for my location as I travel!
As for accessing Ingress clients or backends in an unauthorized manner including through the use of third party software. Please explain how I have done this when I only have the Official Ingress client from Google Play Store?

Lock screen wallpaper Android – KitKat 4.4.2/4.4.4

I’ve been reading a lot of “support sites” with regards to “helping” users who are using Android 4.4.2/4.4.4 KitKat. I see a lot of users are trying to change their lock screen image.

I even read one response that said “Your wallpaper should be the same regardless of whether you’re on the lockscreen or not — it’s not an iPhone ;)”

No it’s not an iPhone, but still Android has had the ability to change Home & Lock screen wallpapers from the very start. Now if you’re an Android user trying to change or remove a lock screen wallpaper image. Here’s what you need to know.

Go to SettingsThemes… down the bottom you will find Lock screen wallpapers.

From here you can either, clear the wallpaper you currently have, or change it to something else. If you want to change to a new wallpaper, choose ‘Pick image‘. Now you have the option from getting the picture you want from Google Drive, through your file manager, or Gallery. Simply touch the the three horizontal lines on the top left of the screen. It will change to ‘Open From’. Then select the picture and tap set lock screen wallpaper at the top of the screen.

Reboot smart phones.

Hey Folks,

Just a quick tip for those of us, who use smart phones like an Apple iPhone or Android device. At least once a week, restart the device, you need to remember it’s essentially a mini computer.

Computers need a reboot now and then and so will your phone. This will prevent the device from not being able to make calls if it drops the Cell tower and can’t join back on. Unfortunately just putting your device into flight and back again will not help!

CyanongenMod – CM11 M6 (KitKat) Samsung Galaxy SII

Hi Folks,

I updated my Samsung Galaxy SII to a custom ROM from cyanogenmod.
I’m using CM11 M6 & I have to say I love the work they have done!

First of all the launcher is awesome, no need for a custom launcher unless you really really want one. Secondly I was so glad they implemented separate Home & Lock Screen wallpapers. But did you think I could find where to go to enable this? Nope I was left in the dark & release notes give you no clue!.

So if you’re using CM11 M6 and you’re wanting to change the Lock Screen wallpaper.
Here’s where you need to go ==> settings > lock screen > lock screen background.

Tmi.me – Terms of Service

I was using my twitter feed today with Echofon on my Android device. Not a bad little app I use when my iPhone is charging. I was looking through the settings and found a section where you extended the length of your tweet, but you had to use a 3rd party app. I had a look at the app. Then I read through the Terms of Service. Lets just say I was extremely flabbergasted, that anyone would agree to this license especially this section of the terms of Terms of Service. Effectively taking away all your privacy and Intellectual Property rights.

‘You acknowledge and agree that if you use any of the Services to contribute Content to the Site or Services (“User Content”), you hereby do and shall grant UberMedia a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, transferable, sublicensable right to use, modify, reproduce, distribute, prepare derivative works of, display, publish, perform and otherwise fully exploit such User Content (including all related intellectual property rights) in any media format and through any media channel and to allow others to do so. To the extent allowed by law, the foregoing includes all rights of paternity, integrity, disclosure and withdrawal and any other rights that may be known as or referred to as “Moral Rights.” To the extent you retain any such Moral Rights under applicable law, you hereby ratify and consent to any action that may be taken with respect to such moral rights by UberMedia and agree not to assert any Moral Rights with respect thereto.’

All I can say HOLY CRAP! Are you kidding me!? Seriously? you want me to give away my rights to my content that has my copyright, intellectual property rights & moral rights. You want to just ignore these, so you can enjoy not paying any royalties or license fees? NO WAY MISTER/SISTER! Not going to happen.

So if you do happen to use this service http://tmi.me also known as UberSocial, I suggest you read the TOS and remove your content. Remove the app from your Android, Blackberry & iPhone devices.
This crew need to learn that our content, is exactly that it’s your content. They need to ask for permission not demand it in the TOS.
